Putting in a modern 'working' circuit breaker panel. The original 1946 vintage panel was useless, the breakers did nothing, for I have twice cut through live wires with my saws-all, and it never tripped a breaker, all it did was go 'pop bang' and blue flash and keep on going, minus a chunk out of the saw blade!
This was all easily do-able, as last fall I replaced the electric service outside the house, and giving me a point to turn off the line to this house panel, so I could do this at my leisure, without having to worry about the power company being here to un-hook and hook me back up, while waiting for the electrical inspector.
